Welcome to Reimer Vineyards.

Our story

Reimer Vineyards sits on 22 acres in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s wine country.

From the start in the mid-1980's, we grew grapes conventionally, however, with small children around, we started to look for more environmentally friendly methods. In the early 2000's we transitioned to organic farming and then also to organic winemaking when we opened the winery in 2010.

Now, in pursuit of more sustainable farming practices, we are moving on to regenerative agriculture. Regenerative agriculture is not a specific practice itself, rather, proponents of regenerative agriculture use a variety of sustainable agricultural techniques in combination with a holistic management.

On Reimer Vineyards, this includes a more diverse mix of crops, such as fruit trees and grapes, along with animals that forage amongst the perennial crops. As we try to minimize our spraying of pesticides (even though they are organic), we are replanting our traditional wine grape varieties with new varieties that have been developed to be more resilient in the face of our changing climate. We are confident that this will result in even better wine as these holistic practices result in healthier soils, and thus healthier stronger plants with better fruit.

As they say, winemaking begins in the Vineyard.

Only 1000 cases made annually.

More than just wine.

At Reimer Vineyards, we embrace a biodynamic approach to our farming and harvesting practices. This means that our grapes are grown while our sheep and goats graze among them. We also raise pigs, chicken and grow a variety of fresh produce, allowing us to produce sausages, eggs, wool, milk, cheese, and other delicious farm to home items.
